Poster Sessions

The National Collegiate Choral Organization's (NCCO) peer-reviewed journal, The Choral Scholar & American Choral Review (TCS & ACR), invites submissions for a conference poster session. By providing a forum for scholars to present new ideas and topics, the sponsors of the poster session hope to encourage new research and dialogue, possibly leading to future publication.

Topics

Any topic directly relating to choral music is acceptable; however, it is recommended that topics be directed to a college/university audience. Research that has been presented elsewhere (in print or otherwise) must clearly state where and when it has appeared. Material currently out for review must be identified as well.

Logistics

Applicants accepted for the poster session will be expected to prepare a large-scale poster containing text and graphics illustrating the main points of their research. During the session, applicants will stand with their poster and engage in conversation with conference attendees. Handouts are acceptable, but not required. Some applicants will be invited to give a brief (5-10 minute) oral presentation at the beginning of the poster session. Computer projection and audio playback will be provided for the oral presentations only. Other multimedia aspects of posters (iPad, laptop, etc.) must be provided by applicants, who will responsible for locating power supply and ensuring the safety of their personal property.

Successful applicants may be invited for a poster session only or for a poster session with a 5-10 minute oral presentation.

To Apply

Each applicant should submit:

  1. 300-500 word abstract. Abstracts might include a partial bibliography or description of the poster layout, where applicable.
  2. A 75-100 word bio.
  3. A hi-res headshot

Deadline: All materials must be submitted by July 15, 2021, 11:59p CST.

Notification: Results will be announced by mid-to-late August.

Applications accepted through July 15, 2021.
