NCCO9 Call

Choral Performance Videos

The National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO) invites choral performance video submissions for featured presentation at the 9th Biennial Conference, November 4-6, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia.

NCCO wishes to celebrate the ingenuity and innovation of our choral director members by featuring some of the most creative, impactful, and musical choral performance videos created during the pandemic. These could be “virtual choirs,” recorded performances of distanced/masked singers, or any other combination for choral performance video submissions. All selected videos will be played live for all NCCO attendees during one of the main meetings of the conference.

Performance videos should be of one or two works and the total length should not exceed 8 minutes (from start to finish, including any speaking or commentary). Video submissions will be adjudicated based on musical excellence, artistic impact, the quality of the audio and video production, and on their connection to the conference theme of Building Beloved Community. Video submissions that feature repertoire from a diverse and inclusive body of composers and ensembles are particularly encouraged.

All submitted videos should have been created sometime during the pandemic (between March 2020 and July 2021), and should feature at least some musical content created during this time. Videos that also feature musical content from before March 2020 are allowed, as long as some of the musical content was created during the pandemic.

When applying, the conductor should submit a link to the actual video they hope to be included for virtual performance at the NCCO conference. Since adjudicators will be reviewing actual performance videos for inclusion, it will not be possible to preserve anonymity in the adjudication process.
